I don't "cook" often. In the sense of preparing, chopping, making, much of anything aside from kid-friendly meals of baked chicken, turkey, beef, etc. Nothing ever very special or what I want. My kids are beyond picky. One who won't eat anything but chicken, turkey, beef and carbs that are recognizable, he knows when I try to slip him something different, "What IS this?" (Or if given the choice, cold cereal.)
I wanted a freaking boiled dinner. While shopping last week – there were like three smoked shoulders left in the meat case. These do not come in a petite size. I now have a hugantic piggy on my stove, and ain't nobody gon eat it. Perhaps two of my kids will give it a try, my oldest and youngest will at least pick at it. My husband, no way. He might pick a carb out of the pot, but then it will taste "porkish." LOL.
It makes no sense, and is a huge waste. After I pick at it for a couple days, the dog will be in hog heaven.
I did the same thing about 2 weeks ago and all that was good from it was the split pea soup I made with the left overs. The rest hit the trash a few days later.
Enjoy the PORK!
I do this sometimes, in that I want something that you can only make in BIG batches but I only have my husband and myself to feed. We are also not real great with leftovers BUT I usually freeze 3 or 4 portions to eat at a later date so not all of it gets tossed. A month or two later for a lunch that chili or crock pot pork or pot of beans or whatever looks pretty appealing again for a lunch or dinner when we are out of other food.
I still have not learned that when i make a roast i can’t physically eat it and the dog eats gets it….i try this out every couple weeks when i crave meat lol I’m now slowly learning that i can only eat filet mignon (sp?) without feeling like i’m dying but with the economy and such that’s not an affordable option so much….tonight im having smooshy beans…watch out! lol
What times dinner? I’ll be there…..
I ate one bite of meat, one half potato, and a bite of cabbage. I brought the pot to my FIL. He’s a happy camper. LOL. Smelled good.
Megan-
I can eat shaved roast beef, rare cooked very expensive roasts, and ground beef. STEAK IS NO GO. I don’t bother anymore.
Buying expensive cuts of steak to eat a small amount is stupid for me. I don’t eat the leftovers either – they get hard and gross..
HI BETH!!
I could suggest ham salad.
Lots of sharp cheese, sf pickle relish, little onion, mayo or salad dressing.
I put it in the food grinder.
Soo good, you made me hungry for it.
